Buy: Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now, Available March 27, 2012
The Sleep Wells are an unsigned, female vocalist-fronted indie band based in London, UK. In homage to their favourite bands, Radiohead and The Smashing Pumpkins, the band create music that twists and turns along the way, often ending somewhere entirely removed from where it began. The Sleep Wells self-produced their Autumn 2011 “Building” EP, which has recently been featured on BBC Introducing.
Their EP Building is currently available for free download at Bandcamp
I am finding the EP Ghost of Something New by Kate Tucker to be perfectly lovely! It is pretty, fragile and cozy.
KATE TUCKER is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Akron, Ohio. She plays rich, emotive alt-country and americana influenced rock. Her sonic influences reflect shades of Neko Case, Cat Power, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star with occasional forays into a land inhabited by the Cocteau Twins, Blonde Redhead and David Lynch.
Growing up in a family of truck drivers, Kate became acquainted with the American road from the window of a semi. From an early age she was familiar with constant comings and goings, departures and homecomings. A sense of place, space, home, and the vast unknown continues to inform her work both in mood and lyric.
This frequent travel set in motion what would become Kate’s musical journey, beginning as a street musician in Paris, settling down to make three records in Seattle, and then leaving town again for Brooklyn, Akron, and now Nashville, Tennessee.
You can download a free and legal copy for a limited time starting today (through the end of the month) on NoiseTrade. The official release date will be March 13, 2012.
Since I don’t have an Mp3 to share with you today, I’ve decided to share the video for “Where Are You (I Am Already Gone)” which, I believe, will be featured in tonight’s episode of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars:
“Where Are You (I Am Already Gone)” – Kate Tucker, from the album White Horses, 2010
I am hearing a lot of XTC and The Beatles in this song.
This gives me an excuse to re-post a song that is still very high on my playlist:
